The {not so} Lazy Days of Summer in Tennessee

Happy Labor Day to you, and you, and you! :)

As I start the packing frenzy in preparation for our vacation, I wanted to take a little moment to share some snippets of our trip to Tennessee this summer as a family... it was a work vacation for me, but the whole family got to come along for the fun! My friend Shoshanna and I were working on a large project that took the better part of two weeks to accomplish, but the result should be worth it! The debut is nearing, so stay tuned! :)

Here are a few photos from the trip that are my favorites... most are from projects but a few are just behind the scenes fun pictures that let you see what we were doing!

William was so thrilled to be pushed in the swing on Jame's and Shoshanna's front porch! I love the sheer delight in his chubby little face!



I was working in the house when Shoshanna called me to come quick with the camera... Jeremiah and Evangeline were working hard together to carry the tub of peaches that they had picked all by themselves. I was so delighted to catch this series all completely candid. I haven't figured out what I want to do with the photos... maybe make a card with them? So sweet!

Elizabeth was happy to dance with her beautiful red clover crown on top of her curls...




A summer rainstorm made the perfect lighting for this moody shoot... can't you just taste the herbal tea?!


A friend is expecting her third baby in a few months and didn't have any photos to remember this precious time in her life, so we took 20 minutes one morning and got some sweet images that she loves!

And William is One

His squishy baby chub is soooo perfect and soft, his smile filled with 6 teeth flashes all day long, and his newly perfected art of screaming is filling the air with his presence! William turned a whole year old last month ( I know, I know, I'm more than late... third child syndrome?) on the 16th. He has brought much joy to our home this past year and we were all excited to celebrate him!

I took the little man out into the yard and snapped these photos on the run - literally - one afternoon to document his adorableness, and then whipped up this little card to invite the family to his party. And boy did we party! :) We cooled off in the pool and ate our fill of the most adorable monkey cake that Auntie Robin made. William loved it! I know people say the first few birthdays are for the parents, not the child, but this little man disproved that theory. He had a blast with all the attention, water, cake, and toys!

Princess Evangeline

"I want to dress up like a real princess, and can I wear some of your make-up too?!" Evangeline's little voice was breathless with excitement, joy, and anticipation. Our little Squeakydink, as her daddy calls her, is turning FOUR this weekend, and in honor of this rite of passage she requested get all fancy for some pictures. Yep, she's my girl!

"When I turn four will I get very tall with my legs and hands?" and, "I want to turn five instead of four, and then next year I will be four, okay?"... these are the sweet little comments that our girlie is spouting this week as she is 100% consumed with the fact that she will no longer be three!

Here's to another great and wonderful year with our beautiful princess!

Morgan: Graduation Card

Her mom called me a few weeks ago, saying they decided to order Morgan's graduation cards with photos from her senior session that we did a few months back.

I had so much fun putting this 4x5.5 card together for Morgan! They decided to upgrade to the awesome metallic finish, which gave it such a cool shimmery affect! The quick photos I snapped in my kitchen don't really do it justice (of course, I've edited out the personal info on the front and inside)... I wanted to keep one just to look at and feel. The smooth shiny finish was addicting to the touch! :)

Just a small taste of the fun we had that day! :) The rest of the images are almost ready...

I've been delayed on my work here with a bunch of house rearranging to make room for the next phase of the remodel. It feels like we are moving almost! We finally got our reclaimed wood flooring in... new life reincarnated, from an old floor in an Alaskan fishery to our cozy little craftsman bungalow!

I'll update more when I get a chance, just now I need to go put a new coat of paint on my bed frame refinishing project.

Bryson: Graduation Card

Last Fall I had the opportunity to take Bryson's senior photos. They wanted to get them done early to prevent stress this Spring, due to a major surgery Bryson had in January. Bryson's quiet, patient and joyful spirit just radiates everytime I see him at church. His choice to remain cheerful despite his physical discomfort has blessed many more than just me. I felt so honored that they asked me to document this important place in his life!



Bryson also chose to have a graduation announcement designed with his photos for a fun, modern take on the traditional card! Here is the final proof (front and back) he chose to go with.
